At only five dollars, I was not going to walk out of Flukes and Finds and Friends without this super-long vintage necklace. And I don't think it's going to leave my neck all weekend.
Rob and I both took today off, which meant, of course, that a basket of fries from the Rockfish was in order.
My friend Kate and I nixed our planned trip to Ikea yesterday after we thought just a tad too long about spending three hours in the car with her two girls. But all was not lost, because we hit the second place on the planet where I can do tornado-like financial damage in a very short period of time.
The unintentional theme here, as you can see, was "hot and spicy". I got most of the goodies to have on hand for last-minute guests, but those sweet and spicy pecans (which Kate insisted that we drive back to buy) just did not stand a chance. I had some on the way home, crumbled some on top of my salad last night, and have just enough left to do the same tonight.
These great jars that I bought on Etsy will be perfect for prettying up my new little office nook.
On Sunday we slaved over our (really tiny but previously non-existent) garden. In addition to planting some strawberries (inspired by a recent episode of our favorite show, "Jamie at Home") and two beach rose bushes (Rosa rugosa, for those "in the know" - and, believe me, I am not), we decided to attempt to grow a tomato plant and some hot red cherry peppers*. Each plant came with a fruit already established, so sadly we cannot take credit for these little lovelies.
*Rob and I love - and I mean LOVE - hot and spicy food. And whenever we order food that would make the average person shoot fire from their mouths, or, in this case, buy a plant that produces very hot peppers, we always get the same question: "It's really hot - you know that, right?"
When I saw that my friend Jen was giving away ten vintage photographs, I was (literally) the first one there, holding out my greedy little hand. And, of course, she so delievered on it - the photo she selected and sent me is just fabulous. Look at those dresses...and that great pair of white shoes!
I was definitely born in the wrong era.
