Don't mess

Six reasons why I have a stronger-than-ever urge to go to Texas:

Dillo_palace

This place.

Betsy*, Laura, Heather, Katherine, and Jenny.

[Update 5/13/08: Oh, and Joslyn.  So that makes it seven reasons.  I'm pretty sure I'm going to actually stay with Joslyn.  Have you seen her house?!]

*Betsy doesn't have a blog but makes a career out of commenting on other people's blogs.  She also took this dark-yet-perfectly-representative picture from her recent trip to Houston.  Betsy also made a point to send me a picture of what appears to be a giant armadillo in a questionable position on a rock and (from what I understand) made several failed attempts at capturing shots of men's giant belt buckles.

I am not the world's greatest photographer/visual commentator. All about the words. Sometimes with edgy (incorrect) grammar. You know, to be edgy.

If you do go, be sure to try the Frito pie made with venison chili.

plus, i used to live there. and joslyn does.

and gwen bell? she really should!

xoxo.

I will have you know that I have no idea how smart armadillos are, but apparently not smart enough to NOT WALK ACROSS ROADS WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC.

Lately, there has been literally dozens of smushed armadillos from here to church and back, from here to school and back, and from here and my grandparents' place and back.

It is like they are playing frogger, yet...not exactly "frogger". They are playing "Armadillo-er"

Thanks for the link love. :)

Come to Texas! We'll play armadillo-er until the cows come home. (Which is like 8pm.)

yes, yes i do live in texas!

that settles it...we need a kirtsy party in texas asap!!!!!!!!!

To clarify, if you do go to the Armadillo Palace, try the Frito pie with venison chili. Not every place in Texas has that on the menu.

Thankfully, most places do not have frito pie with venison chili on the menu.

Watch what you say, SZ. I am cooking dinner tonight. And capitalize the word "Frito." Show it the respect it deserves.

We lived in Texas for about a year. I can honestly say that the culture is so different and the state has such pride that it really should be a country all by itself. One of my top 3 locations in the US is Austin. Mr. French and I eloped there, I would have moved there in a heartbeat but Mr. French is not good in the heat. Portland was a nice compromise...same vibe.

you can totally stay with me!

I live in Austin. It's FABULOUS! Houston is great, too, and you can't beat the shopping in Dallas! How many Kirtsy editors actually live in Texas?!
