Out to lunch
Rob and I both took today off, which meant, of course, that a basket of fries from the Rockfish was in order.

Last night, we had dinner and drinks with our good friends Marc and Kate on the screened-in deck at the Plum Island Grille. The ocean breeze, the brief torrential downpour, and the salt marsh sunset were absolutely perfect accompaniments to the laughs and great conversation we shared.
Sure, we got there quite late this morning. But the lure of bagels and coffee from our favorite morning spot knows no schedule.
Just down the road from where we live is this little house - an old clam shack, to be exact - which has been renovated and turned into a single-family residence. We drive by it at least once a day, and always imagine how wonderful it would be to live with such a marvelous view.
But on a day like this, things could get a little dicey.
The buzz that surrounds a new restaurant opening in town is always exciting. Like it is for Hopscotch. I love how the chef plans on using locally-grown produce and is aiming to be as "green" as possible.
Every weekday during his lunch break, Rob drives to nearby Little Neck and takes a walk. Sometimes, when I can sneak away, I join him. Like today.
Not only is it a treat to see my love, but these views are a great cure for the midday blues.
We wandered into Amesbury yesterday for a quick errand, and stumbled upon this lovely little doorway.
Today, we visited our favorite store - Flukes and Finds and Friends. (There really isn't a better way to spend a dreary Sunday afternoon. Or any afternoon, really.)
I left with this stack of Martha Stewart Living magazines from 2007 - which lead to a very interesting bit of news from the Flukes ladies. Turns out that Martha's offices called to let them know that Martha was going to be here in Newburyport "sometime this summer" and wants to stop in. I'm on high alert!
When I read this little story on our neighbor's blog yesterday, my day was made.
Yesterday, I was trapped in a conference room for eight hours straight. And given just one "official" bathroom break. And exactly fifteen minutes to grab lunch and bring it back to the room so that we could continue working.
The best part? I spent a total of three hours in the car getting to and from this little slice of heaven.
So even though I really want to visit the big T-E-X-A-S, I love where we live. Especially today.
